The Brown Brothers, USA, an all-male singing group, originated from the Philippines, in the early 1960s, with U.M. Carbajal, M.D. as their founder. As they migrated to the United States, they continued to share the sweetness of harmony and love for music.
And so it was that in the spring of 1977, at the Central Filipino Seventh-day Adventist Church, the BROWN BROTHERS, USA, was born.
Obstacles such as financial needs, time schedules and musical know-how hampered their progress. No one was a professional musician. But they were determined to be instruments in the hands of the Master Musician. The late Dr. Eliseo Bautista, a thoracic surgeon, was chosen to be the director. Ritchie Carbajal, a ministerial student, became their pianist and arranger. They also recruited newer members.
They have ministered in churches of different denominations, evangelistic crusades, camp meetings, General Conference sessions, schools and hospitals, in bars and in funeral homes. In spite of tight schedules and financial hardship, their mission has taken them to major cities of California and as far away as Arizona, Indiana, Louisiana, Oregon, Texas, Hawaii and Canada.
Whether it is an original composition or a new treatment of an old favorite, theirs is a fresh new sound that has warmed hearts and brought souls closer to the Lord. Their wives and their children are their inspiration and constant companion. They act as audience, accompanists, soloists, cooks and assistants, critics and boosters. Close to five decades later, the singers are not so young anymore. Yet they still enjoy each other’s company singing praises and offering worship to God who upholds and blesses them. They will continually offer to the Lord the best they can offer Him - a sacrifice of praise.
